Skills Remediation is individualized to meet the learner's needs. These needs are determined during a Focused Academic Assessment conducted during the Intake Session by a certified Learning Disabilities/Teacher Consultant (LD/TC). Areas of assessment include:
Decoding skills
Word reading
Reading comprehension
Written expression
Math Skills
Depending on the learner's needs, he or she is served either individually or in a small group so that deficient skills are remediated. Assistive technology is incorporated into a learner's session when needed. Teacher to learner ratio for group settings is one to four.
Learners are enrolled in Skills Remediation Sessions once or twice a week, depending on need. These sessions are scheduled everyday after school and on weekends. Individual sessions are 60 minutes and group sessions are 90 minutes.
